it is an excellent tool, it helps us with everything we need, the integrations with our client are very transparent and reliable. With the support of InterSystems, today we can integrate and connect our client to different sources, we connect it with services, applications, among others, we use IRIS as a control bus, which brings us all the confidence and security in the data we travel.
  • object-oriented database
  • data bus
  • data security and integrity
  • Multilingual community in one place
  • better console integration
  • more programming language
Based on today's use structure, IRIS brings us confidence in everything we do, in our client, we manage to generate great savings for him thanks to the integration possibilities of IRIS, a simple example is that we connect our client to a service where he manages to manage an entire data structure and customers with just one subscription, thanks to the calling and webhooks features in our services.

We using InterSystems IRIS as a full solution for our hospital facility to manage entire patient flows and financial flows as well. Technology- and solution-wise it's one super solution. I am previously working with multiple other HIS systems and I found a lot of new things in this HIS solution and users also a lot of new features also available. It's a really good solution.
  • Clinical part
  • RCM part they will done all most all the DHA and insurance integrations.
  • PAS part included the easiest methods for booking appointments and patient management is very easy.
  • Audit log for each and every action is a very good thing.
  • Code table concept is a very good idea for supporting staffs.
  • UI Part little bit improvement required, but that is not a big issue.
  • Once done the future booking for appointment we cannot reschedule the appointment up to today is lesser than that booking date.
  • g.: Today (29/07/2022) I am booking for an appointment on 01/08/2022, I want that appointment to need to reschedule to 31/07/2022, this is not possible.
  • If possible to reschedule the appointment up to the current date is a better option.
  • Patient Bill is cancelled then multiple records are getting created, this will be make confusion for users.
  • For IT staffs if you can provide the database related training it will be more helpful for manage the Realtime requirements.
Technology-wise this is one of the best solutions. Overall this will cover all the needs of hospitals. Clinical part is very strong and easy to manage. Once they start to use they can reduce the time consuming to do the insurance submission-related things. That I am found to be corrected is their design resolution aspects and it will need to be worked in any resolution.
  • Overbooking.
  • Multi booking.
  • Generate and attach the medical report.
  • Multi quick booking.
  • Payor Online validation.

We are one of the reputed hospital group in Dubai. We are using the the InterSystems IRIS as our HIS system to manage our facility's entire workflows. This is one of the very best solutions to manage the entire workflow of any facility. They have multiple options to fulfill the requirements of any other Hospital too.

Anyone who has a good background in healthcare can easily manage. All the settings and configuration-related things will do the training from the InterSystems side and once their training is finished we can easily learn and do the things from our side. There are a lot of better options available in that system to manage the initial things.
  • Appointment overbooking.
  • Online payer validation.
  • Insurance submission, resubmission and auto remittance.
  • eRx related workflows.
  • Insurance online validation.
  • Overbooking.
  • Appointment slot insertion.
  • Appointment reschedule need to possible if reschedule date is today, now only allow to reschedule on future dates.
  • Better UI design.
  • Database access and table identification-related support and training for IT staffs.
  • Report generation facility to IT staffs.
Yes
Mediware HIS system is replaced with InterSystems IRIS. Mainly we replace reason is support. If we need to do an emergency change it will take more time and there are a lot of stability issues also there. New features they are not trying to find and do not include by themself.
  • Product Features
  • Product Usability
  • Product Reputation
Product feature is more important. Here in clinical, RCM, PAS, Administration , Insurance, Medication, Nurse area, Patient management area, Laboratory areas, Radiology, Inventory management area all are very strong. This will makes our daily working is makes more better than ever. It will reduce our staffs daily workload and more productive.
Product stability and reputation will also consider if change our evaluation and selection process.
Because stable products will also help us to improve the productivity and daily works, other wise will struggle with the system to complete the daily stuffs.
And the reputed company will do the required new changes will include in their new releases and it will comply our regulatory requirements.
  • Implemented in-house
Change management was a big part of the implementation and was well-handled
  • Human errors are major issues found
Will done based on a proper planning, so this will makes execution more easier and better.
They will provide the stable solution and support for every time.
Once the ticket raised then they will study about this reported issue and they will try to reproduce the issue.
if they will not able to find the issue then they will makes a call and from our side we will shows the identified scenario and they will do the needful.
All the major functionality and required things are included in this system, so we can easily recommended this system.
  • Insurance online validation
  • Payer Approval Online validation
  • eRx features
  • Appointment reschedule to backdate up to current date.
  • Identification of not generated invoice after bill cancellation.
  • UI design part.

InterSystems IRIS helps our organization quickly and efficiently develop solutions across our product suite. It is fully comprehensive allowing us to manage deployment, database configuration, connectivity, and routing of data throughout data lifecycle. The product roadmap is always growing to include features well suited for any company to store, organize, and analyze data.

Our company has used the database platform for decades and recently adopted their interoperability engine to enable multiple clients connect securely to our transactional routine engine in a myriad of formats (HL7v2, files, and custom data streams) allowing quick routing to the desired messaging server infrastructure (which transforms custom formats to our standard) and then sending transactions to the customer-specific database server for consumption. This allowed for easy adoption and support for our overall architecutre. As well as moving our company towards industry-standard techniques to promote easier onboarding of new employees within the integration, support, and development departments.
  • Receive, transform, and route data from multiple sources into a single standard makes implementing various data streams quick and efficient. Our company used this engine to not only receive data in and push data out, but also to identify when existing data changed to trigger events as needed to build interactive features into our product such as alerting and workflow rules as well as integration with third party vendors.
  • The data storage is easily configured and human readable through the definition of Cache classes. Our company built from scratch a comprehensive data model within days that was adopted for each new module within our application, all inheriting from a well-thought-out base class structure. Adjusting in future made it easy to write minimal amount of code to deploy changes across entire application.
  • Analyzing and reporting through multiple querying languages and a variety of connections is very fast. Our company also took advantage of the ability to build dynamic queries built solely off the interpretation of the underlying data models to process interface transactions with a standard, universal, approach that did not rely upon hand-crafting queries for each data model individually.
  • Our biggest hurdle is to continually inform new executives or chief architects about the role the InterSystems platform has in our environment. Most with no exposure immediately think they should change everything and move to something such as Microsoft SQL Server or other database platforms. Once we show them what InterSystems does for us and the exhaustive amount of features and functionality they usually get on board.
  • Onboarding new developers can be time consuming if they are new to InterSystems suite of products. But our experience is that adoption can be rolled out slowly within those areas that are industry standard (database configuration, reporting, etc.) as most of the content is standard and it is just some syntax and application hurdles to overcome.
InterSystems IRIS is particularly well suited for handling large-scale data integration projects. It allows companies to consolidate the software needed to connect, process, store, and analyze data using industry-standard data formats and tooling. The support and learning the company provides is best-of-breed. The only scenario where it would be less appropriate would be small-scale, minimal data storage, projects.

Our company is a large, healthcare-related, content management application that must process large amounts of real-time data transactions from the client's Electronic Medical Record (EMR), identify the Master Patient Index (MPI) to bring uniqueness to the patient data, and identify/alert customers with critical-to-mild processing issues - anywhere from data was rejected, to data was accepted but individual data elements need to be defined or adjusted before reporting can be deemed useful. This all has to be done within multiple transactions PER SECOND, and data has to be able to reported with minimal wait time for clients.

  • Employee onboarding can be difficult given the depth of the features and functionality of the IRIS platform. Utilizing the companies documentation, training, and commitment to their customers, as well as having a well-organized means to onboard new employees, can be critical in getting new hires up-to-speed. Once in place, however, it makes hiring staff with varying degrees of responsibility within your organization easy. Our companies customer support, new-client integration, application development, and analytics departments all use various aspects of the InterSystems IRIS platform allowing for a single "universal" language across our organization. This not only makes communication easier but provides clear organizational career paths a real possibility.
  • Solution Deployment is critical for our organization. We have 800+ local instances of the software installed at various hospitals and the deployment and implementation of new software features and functionality, as well as solutions to reported bugs, is critical. We use various tools and scripts throughout the IRIS platform to make rolling out new features as quick and efficiently as possible.
  • Cross-functional development on a single unified platform allows for each department to be able to integrate seamless with one another without having to integrate a suite of individual products. Our various departments can meet and collaborate with one another in determining the best, most efficient, way to integrate our various solutions without having to look for third-party vendors that can meet our standards.
InterSystems IRIS includes a wide array and assortment of otherwise stand-alone solutions. Having a single platform to support database interoperability, storage, and analytics, let alone Security and SQL tools is a great advantage over solutions that tackle a single aspect of the data lifecycle. If there is, however, tools and productivity software that your team prefers, InterSystems will have industry standard connections to help supplement their feature-rich applications.

In my company, we are using Intersystems IRIS as integration platform, usign HL7 message from laboratories and process them in a unique point to process all of them. Each laboratories connect with his reports of patients, and integrate within the insurance database. I don't need an extra application to operate. I can integrate a new laboratory in few minutes. Also, we use IRIS as REST API server to connect to insurance information (patient, reports, etc..) and it adds an extra security for confidential data.
  • Quick integration with HL7.
  • Provides a robust platform for API REST.
  • Quick access for database.
  • High security, integrate OAuth, internal user and password access, etc.
  • Complex language to develop.
  • Needs a special staff to manage as administrator.
  • A lot of security via roles that is could be a bit complex.
Well suited
All about integration, HL7 or FHIR. Don't need to develop extra code because the most used is integrated and is very easy to use.

Less appropriate
Use as html server and display pages. The pages code is very complex, if you want to use to display html pages or create a web application, it's better to use other language (such as Angular) and try to integrate the code.

  • Time to integrate new customer: (Before: 40h, after: 2h) - The develop time is reduced to 95%. So we can integrate more customers in less time.
We used Mirth Connect to integrate laboratories, but each integration was very complex, we need to develop each integration newly and define ALL HL7 map. It was using a java code to integerate a TCP interface... everything was created. Now, all of then is part of the server so we only need to configurate and it works very quick.
The interface is very intuitive, the documentation is very good so it is not complicated to operate.
The security is complex, but you can create a special role to access and the user ONLY can operate with the part that it allows.
Also, you can examine the data very quick with the SQL Browser integrated.

The support team is the best in the world. All you need they can help you. The documentation is very good, but the support team can help you in less than 24h (some hours if it's very urgent).
Also, there is a great developers team in a good community that can help you in several languages (English, Spanish, Japanese, Portuguese, etc.).
